About Unmuted

A serious youth-led platform for voices that deserve more room.

Unmuted empowers underprivileged children through debate, public speaking, and communication-based leadership initiatives. The organization creates platforms where young people can learn to think critically, speak with structure, and use dialogue as a tool for change.

Through beneficiary partners such as Stand N Stride Foundation, Unmuted connects competitive excellence with community impact by turning talented speakers into mentors for students who can benefit from debate, spoken English, aptitude-building education, and leadership training.

Founded by

Executive Director

Utkarsh Koul

A youth-led initiative built on the conviction that knowledge grows when it is shared, practiced, questioned, and passed forward.

The problem and the response

Debate should not belong only to privileged classrooms.

01

The gap

Public speaking and debate opportunities are often limited to students from privileged educational backgrounds. Many talented students lack exposure, mentorship, and safe platforms to develop communication skills.

  • Underprivileged children rarely access debate, spoken English, or leadership training.
  • Talented speakers often have no long-term pathway beyond a competition stage.
  • Most debate events end at rankings, trophies, and announcements.
02

The Unmuted solution

Unmuted identifies strong young speakers through competitions, selects promising participants for the Fellowship Program, and equips them to mentor underprivileged children through workshops and communication sessions.

  • Competitive excellence becomes community impact.
  • Fellows gain internships, mentorship, certification, and stipend-based teaching opportunities.
  • Children gain confidence, critical thinking, spoken English, and debate skills.

Vision

Opinions as instruments of change, not liabilities.

Unmuted aspires to nurture children into individuals who can find common ground through meaningful dialogue, strong arguments, and the courage to participate in the world around them.

Mission

Knowledge grows when given away.

The mission is to build critical thinking, social, scientific, economic, and political awareness while helping children express themselves fearlessly through peer-led mentorship and real-world learning.

What Unmuted aims to do

A platform where confidence, empathy, and impact reinforce each other.

01

Collaborate for impact

Create peer-led mentorship pathways with schools, NGOs, youth groups, and community partners.

02

Build aptitude

Encourage critical thinking through healthy discussions, structured reasoning, and argumentation.

03

Open platforms

Provide debate, public speaking, extempore, and youth communication opportunities.

04

Create access

Bring communication education to children from underserved communities and government schools.

05

Grow leaders

Transform capable speakers into mentors who lead with confidence, empathy, and social purpose.

How Unmuted works

From guided preparation to paid, real-world impact.

Early August Impact pathway

Selection of Fellows and Internship

Strong performers and promising communicators are selected for the fellowship and internship pathway, where competition excellence turns into mentorship, leadership experience, and real community impact.

The fellowship

Young speakers become mentors and changemakers.

The Unmuted Fellowship Program creates a bridge between high-performing participants and children who need access to communication education. Fellows do not just win a title. They learn to teach, guide, and build confidence in others.

For fellows

Internship opportunities, leadership experience, mentorship, training, certification, and stipends.

For children

Public speaking, debate, spoken English, communication skills, aptitude-building, and critical thinking.

For communities

A sustainable cycle where young leaders use their voices to help others discover theirs.

Beneficiary partner

Our work with Stand N Stride Foundation.

Stand N Stride Foundation is a social impact organization working with underprivileged and NGO students. It is one of UNMUTED's beneficiary organizations, where selected fellows and interns will conduct communication, confidence-building, public speaking, and leadership workshops for NGO students.

The collaboration is built around a simple impact cycle: students who develop their voice through UNMUTED use that confidence to help other students discover theirs.
